A couple from Georgia posed as Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in a telephone fraud scheme and scammed six people out of $16,000 in gift cards, the department said Monday.
Nicolas Brady Kennedy, 29, and Ashley Marie Walker, 28, both of Loganville, Georgia, made a series of phone calls mostly targeting the elderly in Northern Los Angeles County, Sheriff’s Chief Patrick Nelson said at a news conference. Full Article
I am amazed that these people were actually caught and used the same spoofing techniques used in my scamming case. i would really like to know how the police were able to track down these scammers. I hope they provide a report and send it out to other police departments. Seems their is something to be learned from the police in LA on how other departments can investigate these scams. The piggies have eyes everywhere. Look up (satellites), look at your name on the internet, look in your grocery store (cams), look at your neighbors (security cams), look at the ATM, look at ignorant people, ie the USA, look at digital anything. The “police”, ie government see all.
What i wanna know is how could anyone fall for that scam for 1 sherrif or police would never call to tell you that you have a warrant plus to avoid the warrant is to pay money over the phone? In the form of gift cards? Wow. If a sheriff ever did that he’s breaking the law and besides officers dont care cuz if you have a warrant why would they call to give you heads up? Lol nope cuz if you have a warrant they will just come n get you
